Editing is non-destructive throughout: adjustments are held in a catalogue or as layers and smart objects, so the original file is never overwritten and any decision can be revised later. Work runs on the raw or highest-quality original wherever it exists, because a compressed export has already discarded the tonal information the edit needs. Colour management is explicit, with a calibrated display and a defined working space, and exports are converted to sRGB with the profile embedded for web use, since an untagged wide-gamut file renders with dull, shifted colour in many browsers. Retouching removes temporary and distracting elements while preserving skin texture and genuine features, and frequency separation or equivalent techniques are used so smoothing does not flatten detail. Background replacement and compositing match perspective, light direction, colour temperature and edge quality, since a technically clean cut-out still reads as fake if the light disagrees. Output is sized and sharpened for its destination, with print files kept in CMYK at 300 pixels per inch and web files exported at defined pixel dimensions.
